STRINGS

In a regime where all expressions of non-nationalistic cultural identity are considered a capital offense, an orphan seeking revenge and a rebellious president’s daughter form an unlikely alliance. Armed only with a dead “culture-traitor’s” violin and a network of underground rebels, they attempt to spark a revolution through the very songs the government tried to erase.

LOVE, GEORGE

A SHORT OPERA

New York, 1905. Deep in the subway tunnels being carved beneath the city, a newly arrived Greek laborer has five minutes and a church volunteer with a pencil to send his first letter home. Together with a colleague who has been digging for fifteen years, they navigate the impossible task of fitting a life onto a thin sheet of paper: the back pain, the darkness, the loneliness, the pride, the things too heavy to say and too important to leave out. A chamber opera about the ninety-nine percent of a life that never makes it into the letter.

ATHANATOS!

A ONE-ACT OPERETTA

An immortal man, tormented by a centuries-old existence that has lost all meaning, desperately announces his secret to the world in a hopeless search for a way to die. Instead of getting help, his confession backfires spectacularly: a fanatical cult emerges around him, worshiping him as the literal Messiah. After a chaotic series of mishaps, dodging his obsessed followers, and narrowly escaping a dangerous deal with Death, he finally learns his lesson and chooses to embrace life.
